About This Experience

This is a ferry ticket day, not a guided tour. You buy hydrofoil tickets from NLG (Navigazione Libera del Golfo) for one of two routes from Molo Beverello in Naples, then explore Amalfi and Positano on your own. The listing runs about 10 hours and costs from $83 per person (checked October 2026). It does not include pickup, lunch, a guide or entry tickets.

Tour 1 leaves Naples at 08:35 and reaches Amalfi (via Capri) at 10:20, with about 3 hours there. You leave Amalfi at 13:40, reach Positano at 14:00 and have about 2 hours 20 minutes before the 16:24 boat to Naples (via Sorrento), arriving 17:45. Tour 2 leaves Naples at 10:00, reaches Positano at 11:35 and gives about 1 hour 45 minutes. It then goes to Amalfi at 13:30 for about 3 hours 30 minutes, and leaves at 17:00 to arrive at 18:45.

Boats may differ from the plan, outdoor deck seating is not guaranteed, and the captain can cancel at the last minute in bad weather. NLG’s Naples to Amalfi and Positano timetables run from 1 April to about 3 November 2026, so this is a boat for the warmer months. NLG’s Naples departures leave from Molo Beverello, the hydrofoil pier, which is separate from the cruise terminal.

Reviewers point out that this is just a pre-booked ticket. Some found Naples port crowded, boats without air conditioning or open deck, and late arrivals. One said a direct NLG ticket costs less. NLG’s own site lists adult fares of about €32 one way to either town, so compare before you book. It suits travelers who like fixed times and no guide.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.0/5 by 1,040 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

Overall okay, but honestly getting on the boat is pure chaos. The boat is giant and the windows are mostly blind so you don’t get too see anything. Its basicially like flying a cheap airline, but on water. If you don’t care about comfort or view, go for it. Otherwise I would not recommend.

Really good. We wish we had longer in Positano, which was our favourite place of the day.

Not enough time in positano. You only get an hour. The ferry was really hot and I ended up getting heat stroke in positano. I would recommend booking directly with the ferry service. Positano and Amalfi deserve a days worth of your time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the NLG ferry to Amalfi and Positano a tour?

No. It is a pre-booked hydrofoil ticket with no guide, pickup or lunch. You choose one of two timetables and spend the day on your own in Amalfi and Positano.

How much does it cost?

From $83 per person (checked October 2026) for either timetable. NLG’s own site lists about €32 one way to either town, so compare against buying direct.

What times does the ferry run?

Tour 1 leaves Naples at 08:35 and returns at 17:45. Tour 2 leaves at 10:00 and returns at 18:45. Check these against the current timetable.

When does the ferry season end?

NLG’s 2026 timetables run from 1 April, with most departures ending around 3 November. After that, boat services are limited, so a road tour is the safer choice.

Is it good for cruise passengers?

Only if your all-aboard time is late enough. Tour 1 returns at 17:45 and Tour 2 at 18:45, and sailings can run late. Compare it with a guided hydrofoil day.
