Positano & Amalfi Full-Day Cruise from Naples

About This Experience

This 9-hour tour crosses to the coast by hydrofoil, not by road. It starts at Bar Picnic in Naples, with a 10-minute transfer to the port and a ferry ride of about 105 minutes to Amalfi. You then have about 3 hours 10 minutes of free time in Amalfi, a 20-minute ferry hop to Positano, and about 2 hours 20 minutes there. The ferry back takes about 80 minutes, followed by a short transfer to the start. Tickets are from $109 per person (checked October 2026).

A host or greeter travels with a group of up to 20 and offers commentary in English, Italian and Spanish. The listing says you pass Capri and the Li Galli islands from the water, and that the ferry makes stops at Sorrento and Capri where you cannot disembark. Round-trip hydrofoil tickets are included. Pickup, lunch, drinks and tips are not.

The hydrofoil runs as public transport. Seats cannot be reserved, and the departure depends on sea conditions and Coast Guard authorization. The tour is not suitable for people prone to seasickness or with mobility impairments, and luggage or large bags are not allowed. Because seats are first come, first served, arriving at the port early gives you a better chance of a spot on deck or by a window. Bring water and a hat for the queue and the open sections of the boat.

Lower ratings mostly say the same thing. Some reviewers felt it was a public ferry with limited seats and views, and that you could buy the tickets yourself for less. Others praised the guide but found the boat hot, the windows dirty, and the radio commentary not working. It suits travelers who want the sea crossing and plenty of free time in two towns, and who will skip a seat at the window.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.2/5 by 984 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

It was a wonderful day! We visited Amalfi and then Positano. We travelled by hydrofoil, which turned out to be the right choice because the sea was a little rough. Carmela was our tour guide! She was very helpful, always smiling, and happy to answer all our questions. We were very satisfied with the experience, and I would definitely choose to do it again. A big yes from me!! Highly recommended!
