"I recommend this tour. We had a great guide, Maria. The driver, Antonio L., was also always on time and got us everywhere we needed to go. Amazing views, fantastic locations. Well worth it."

How the Nights Fit Together
Four steps from booking the tour to getting back to your hotel.
Book the tour first
Reserve the Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi day before the room. You can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund, so the hotel can follow the tour date.
Sleep near a pickup
The tour collects at 11 points, including Hotel NH Napoli Panorama in Municipio, Starhotels Terminus on Piazza Garibaldi and Royal Continental on the seafront. Pick a room at or near one of them.
Watch for the pickup time
The operator emails pickup-time updates, and the driver waits about 10 minutes. Book in the last few hours and the meeting point becomes Hotel Terminus at 08:30.
Back to the same area
After 1.5 hours in Amalfi, the drive back to Naples takes about 75 minutes, with drop-offs at the same 11 points. The whole day lasts about 8.5 hours.

Where to Stay
Picking a Naples Base for Your Day Trip
Municipio, Piazza Garibaldi or the Lungomare, matched to where your tour picks up.
Stay in Municipio, by the port, if you want one base for both road tours and ferries. Amalfi Coast day tours from Naples collect guests at a short list of hotels and landmarks, and the two hotels that turn up most often are on Via Medina in Municipio and on Piazza Garibaldi outside Napoli Centrale. Municipio adds Molo Beverello, where the seasonal ferries to Amalfi and Positano leave. Choose Piazza Garibaldi if your tour meets only there or you arrive by train, and the seafront Lungomare if you want a quieter street and sea views.
Take the most-reviewed tour on this site, Worldtours’ From Naples: Sorrento, Positano & Amalfi Premium Tour. It picks up at 11 points, with hotels in all three areas below, and runs about 8.5 hours, from $71 per person without lunch (checked October 2026), rated 4.8 from 18,989 GetYourGuide reviews. Its Stazione Marittima pickup is for cruise passengers only, so a hotel near the cruise terminal does not get you that stop. Our breakdown lists every pickup.
Municipio and the port
Pick Municipio if you want to walk to a tour pickup one morning and to the ferries on another. Of the 24 tours compared on this site, 10 list Hotel NH Napoli Panorama on Via Medina as a pickup point, and the Positano and Amalfi coach day stops at Molo Beverello and at Via Medina 39. NLG ferries to Amalfi and Positano leave Molo Beverello from 1 April to early November in 2026, and Line 1’s Municipio metro station is about a five-minute walk from the pier. Expect a busy, urban area, with the Toledo shopping streets next door.
- NH Napoli Panorama: on Via Medina, five minutes’ walk from Molo Beverello on its listing, and a pickup point for 10 tours here.
- Mercure Napoli Centro Angioino: about 400 m from Molo Beverello and 230 m from Municipio metro, with a panoramic terrace.
- Hotel Toledo: a budget pick on Via Montecalvario, about 10 minutes on foot from Piazza del Plebiscito and the harbor, with a rooftop terrace. No tour here collects at the door, so you walk to Via Medina.
For sailing times, fares and the pier itself, read our Naples to Amalfi ferry guide.
Piazza Garibaldi and Napoli Centrale
Starhotels Terminus appears on more pickup lists than any other hotel on this site: 12 of the 24 tours collect there. Some meet nowhere else. HP Travel’s Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento small group day, at $62 per person the lowest real-date price among our 24 tours, starts and ends at the hotel (our breakdown). Late bookings often land here too. Worldtours sends last-minute bookings to the Terminus at 08:30, and HP Travel’s boat days collect at its entrance at 7:40 if you leave your hotel details blank.
The station is the other reason to sleep here. Circumvesuviana trains to Sorrento start at Napoli Garibaldi, trains to Salerno take about 35 to 40 minutes, and Line 1 of the metro links Garibaldi with Municipio. The square is busy and less polished than the seafront. Molo Beverello is about 3.7 km away by road, so take the metro or a taxi on a ferry morning.
- Starhotels Terminus: on Piazza Garibaldi, a few yards from Napoli Centrale and the Garibaldi metro, with a panoramic terrace.
- Hotel Zara Napoli: a budget hotel five minutes’ walk from Napoli Centrale, with 24-hour reception for a late train.
- Grand Hotel Europa & Restaurant: about 270 m on foot from Napoli Centrale.
The Lungomare and Chiaia
Choose Via Partenope for a calmer base with views over the Bay of Naples, and plan on a longer trip to the ferries. Royal Continental is a pickup point for six tours on this site, the flagship day among them. Three more hotels on the same street are pickup points for NapoliCityVision’s two day trips from Naples (one of them adds Pompeii), so check your own tour’s list before you book.
- Hotel Royal Continental: on the seafront promenade, with a rooftop pool open June to September and views of Castel dell’Ovo.
- Eurostars Hotel Excelsior: a rooftop restaurant and terrace over the bay, and some sea-view rooms.
- Grand Hotel Vesuvio: on the seafront, with its listing giving about 15 minutes’ walk to the port for the Capri and Sorrento boats.
- Grand Hotel Santa Lucia: lets you choose between quieter internal rooms and sea-view rooms.

The three areas side by side
| Area | Tour pickups at hotels here | To Molo Beverello | Setting | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Municipio and the port | NH Napoli Panorama, 10 of 24 tours | About 5 minutes’ walk | Busy, urban, next to Toledo | Road tours and ferries from one base |
| Piazza Garibaldi | Starhotels Terminus, 12 of 24 tours | About 3.7 km by road | Busy, less polished | Terminus-only tours, train arrivals |

If you arrive late or leave early
Arriving by train in the evening, sleep at Piazza Garibaldi and skip the cross-town ride. The same goes for a late finish. You Know! Boat’s Positano and Amalfi boat day with drinks meets on Piazza Garibaldi and gets back to Naples no earlier than 20:00 to 20:15, so its operator rules it out for cruise passengers. The NLG ferry day that leaves at 10:00 docks back in Naples at 18:45, and Municipio puts you a short walk from that pier.
If you are joining a ship, the cruise terminal sits on Molo Angioino, close to Molo Beverello, and Municipio is the natural last night. Shore excursions with port pickup are on our cruise excursions page. For a fixed-fare taxi in Naples, ask for and agree the fare before you get in.
Booking tips
- Book the tour before the room. The tours named here allow free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead, and the pickup list tells you which street to sleep on.
- Check the season. Ferries and boat days run from April to early November in 2026, while road tours run all year. Worldtours needs at least 4 people from November to March on its flagship day (2 from April to October).
- Staying in the centro storico? The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli is a pickup point for six tours here, including the flagship day.
- LHP Napoli Palace & SPA is a pickup point for three tours, but it is in Fuorigrotta, away from the port and the station, so it is not one of our three areas.
- Expect a tourist tax of a few euros per person per night, paid at the hotel; check the amount at check-in.
To pick the day itself, start with our Amalfi Coast day trips or the tour comparison on the homepage. When you know your dates, check availability for the Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi day.

What Travelers Say About the Day
Ratings and review counts are the operators' live figures on GetYourGuide and Viator and may shift slightly day to day.
"Imma is a charming and friendly tour guide with a great sense of humour. Giovanni managed to find an alternative route amidst the ongoing fuel strike and managed to find a route which still kept us on time - magic. it would have been great to do a few stops at some of the very impressive view points along the way."
"It was a good trip. However, we were under the impression that a boat cruise along the coast was an option. When we arrived in Amalfi, the guide said, “Oh no. We don’t have time for that.” The cruise was the main reason we booked as we had been to Sorrento and Positano last December."
"A good trip. The Guide was helpful, informative and friendly. We had time for a look at the towns. The lunch was good. A few stops along the coastline for photographs would have been good idea."
"Excellent tour the guide Inna was brilliant and our driver Jiradi was great finding ways to get past road closures and getting us there on time. Great pack excellent all round"
"Lovely trip, I wish we could stay up to two hours at each location so it wouldn’t feel rushed."

Where to Stay in Naples: Common Questions
Naples or Sorrento, the best area for tour pickups, hotels near the port and the station, and how many nights to book.
Yes, for day trips. Every tour on this site starts in Naples, and many collect you at a central hotel, so you skip carrying luggage along the coast. The cost is time on the road: the Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi day drives about an hour to Sorrento and about 75 minutes back from Amalfi. Compare the road options on our day trips page.
Stay in Naples if you are booking a tour from this site, since they leave from Naples hotels and landmarks. Sorrento is on the Sorrentine Peninsula, not on the Amalfi Coast itself, and only one tour here, the Gray Line Ravello day, also departs from there. From Naples, Circumvesuviana trains to Sorrento start at Napoli Garibaldi, so a Garibaldi hotel keeps that option open as well.
Municipio and Piazza Garibaldi. Hotel NH Napoli Panorama on Via Medina is a pickup point for 10 of the 24 tours on this site, and Starhotels Terminus on Piazza Garibaldi for 12. Some tours meet only at the Terminus, and late bookings are often sent there for an 08:30 start. On the seafront, Royal Continental is a pickup for six tours. See the area comparison.
In Municipio. NH Napoli Panorama lists a five-minute walk to Molo Beverello, where the ferries to Amalfi and Positano leave, and Mercure Napoli Centro Angioino is about 400 m from the pier. The cruise terminal is on Molo Angioino, close by. The Stazione Marittima pickup on the classic day is for cruise passengers only. For sailings, read our ferry guide.
On Piazza Garibaldi, outside Napoli Centrale. Starhotels Terminus is a few yards from the station and a pickup point for 12 tours on this site, Hotel Zara Napoli is five minutes' walk away with 24-hour reception, and Grand Hotel Europa is about 270 m away. Trains to Salerno take about 35 to 40 minutes. The square is busy and less polished than the seafront.
Book at least the night before your tour, because pickups start early: HP Travel's boat days collect at the Terminus at 7:40 and the Positano and Amalfi coach day at Molo Beverello at 08:10. Add a night after a late finish, since the boat day with drinks gets back after 20:00. Two or three nights let you fit a road tour and, from April to early November, a ferry day.
Often, yes. The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli is a pickup point for six tours on this site, including the Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi day, so a room within walking distance of the museum works for those. For a tour that meets only at Starhotels Terminus, allow time for a taxi to Piazza Garibaldi. Check your tour's pickup list before you book.
